Drama Review: 예쁜남자/ Pretty Boy/ Yeppeun Namja !!!

10:33 a.m

ladies and gentlemen, it is h e r e.

How many episode approximately?   i believe there are approximately 16

Any famous actors/actresses? LMFAO if you said no to this question
then you are probably still new to
watching kdramas.

Genre? Comedic with of course romance

Should i prepare to cry a river?  lol hmmm, i wouldn't think so no

Why is 장근석 so glamorous?  LOLOL you tell me !

Characters

Jang Geun Suk as Dok Go Ma Te
  • The oh so glamorous Jang Geun Suk, comes back with another wonderful drama, as the "Pretty Boy" Dok Go Ma Te. It's basically what the title says- he's seen as the ultimate ladies man lol
  • i guess his basic goal is to in a sense live the luxurious life with his mum (he would use his glamorous to seduce rich women )

UI as Kim Bo Tong
  • Bo Tong has a very quirky personality. not to mention she is in love with Ma Te
  • She lives at home along with her brother and mother
  • she first met Ma Te on a bus stop (you'll see this scene in the pilot ep.) lol i don't know what to say about their relationship lol.... shes border line obsessed with him i guess.

Han Chae Yeong as Hong Yu Ra

  • Such a mysterious lady in this drama- a mysterious glamorous lady xD
  • I feel like i shouldnt tell you much about her LOL this is something that you should just find out when watching lol

Lee Jang U Choi David
  • David Choi... isn't that a name on youtube?
  • i would say that this character is the exact same replica (except in a mans body) of Bo Tong
  • we dont really know much about his other than the fact that hes the "MD" of a department? and that he's very caring and always looks out for Bo Tong

--> very contrasting to Ma Te's personality for sure

Synopsis
This drama focuses on the glamorous/ quirky relationship between Dok Go Ma Te and Kim Bo Tong- Bo Tong being the borderline obsessive usually goes out of her way to do outrageous things just to get Ma Te's approval or attention (which often times doesn't really work out too well)--> as aforementioned, Ma Te often uses his charms for money- he meets this millionaire who falls head over heels for him giving him anything he wanted.
At this point the mysterious lady, Yu Ra is introduced into the drama. This is the lady that has been mysteriously appearing and disappearing from Ma Te and apparently knows everything about him. She also tells him things that are mind blowing .... (that is all lol.)
David Choi.... the main thing i remember about him is him buying a hat wig from Bo Tong, and maintaining "Vintage dust" on his car.. LOL Bo Tong meets this fine young fellow at one of her "yard" sales. he Eventually helps Bo Tong on her quest to also help Ma Te with his own dilemma (which ties in with Yu Ra)

* this synopsis may seem a bit confusing xD please bear with me*

Response
Can i just say ! LOL they make Geun Suk so unnecessarily Glamorous !! LMFAO, in the first bloody episode they shoot him with his lovely locks flowing in the wind.. of a bus -_- LOL and his LOOKS LOLOL his looks and his poses that she presents to the ladies XDD LOL ridiculous xD.

and Bo Tong... man ... her outfits are another thing to complain about LOL- when you watch it you'll know what i mean lol.

This drama is very lively and i feel that there is an equal balance of the two dramas that are going on- good job producers and directors !

This drama is a total thumbs up and a definite recommend even if you're new to dramas and are attempting to start out slow- this is a great drama for you (but then again who wants to start slow watching dramas! LMAO)

Heres the trailer for you guys !

That's it guys, cheers !

Drama Review: Who Are You?/ 후 아 유

Alright, so for today's review we're going to be talking about the newly anticipated Kdrama "Who Are You?"/후 아 유

Is this a Korean Drama?: Yes

How many episodes have and will be released?: This is a new drama so there
are only 2 episodes that are up so far but for how many episodes
that will be released?.. not quite sure lol.

Any recognizable actors/actresses?: Yes, many- there isn't one character
that you don't know in this drama

Genre?: I can't necessarily say for now only because 2 episodes
have aired however based on what I have seen so far- most likely
mystery a little suspense and perhaps some romance? ;)

Here are the Main Character's of the story:

So Yi Hyun as Yang Shi On

  • So Yi Hyun plays a detective who was solving a case with her partner when she was badly injured leaving her in a coma only to wake up 6 years later
  • Flustered and confused she begins to see ghosts that others obviously can't see (most likely cause by the coma she was in? lol )
  • a former detective in the Special Task Force however voluntarily moved to the department of the Lost and Found Centre

TaecYeon as Cha Gun Woo

  • Cha Gun Woo plays the partner of Yang Shi On and also works in the same department with her
  • because of Yan Shi On's determination in justifying the ghost's she sees- Gun Woo is forced to go on the same missions with her despite the fact that they aren't even authorized to begin with
  • Taecyeon play's a very comedic character which relieves some of the suspense throughout the drama

Kim Chang Wan as Choi Moon Sik

  • The lead detective in his department
  • Choi Moon Sik is also someone whom Gun Woo highly respects
  • like Gun woo- Moon Sik, whenever on scene also displays comedic relief and at the same time portraying a figure of wisdom and always gives out good advice to both Shi On and Gun Woo whenever out on missions

Kim Jae Wook as Lee Hyung Joon

  • ahh the oh so glamorous Kim Jae Wook <3 lol plays the lover of Shin On and also her former partner
  • they don't say much (in the first two eps) about him other than the fact that he was shot and killed

Summary
Alright, well assuming that you've already read about the major characters you probably would know that the main character is Yang Shin On. The story begins with Shin On and her partner, Lee Hyung Joon on a mission and were about to bust some gang smuggling? (lol ). Unfortunately during the mission, Lee Hyung Joon was shot and Yang Shin On had taken damage to the head being left in a coma for 6 yrs.

This somehow causes Shin On to loose her memory ONLY on the day of the accident and at the same time she is mysteriously is able to see and hear ghosts. Now from what I've watched, these ghosts come to her for help to justify what happened to them in the past and to basically put them to rest. And she does this with the help of her new partner Gun Woo.

She helps the ghosts to be put to rest while simultaneously trying to remember what had happened on the day of the accident and who had shot Hyung Joon.
Response
Considering this be the first drama to actually write a review for right after I've just finished watching the latest episode.. this is a pretty good drama. AND ! on top of that. Taecyeon <3 LOL how can you NOT want to watch this?! LOL Taecyeon and Kim Jae Wook! lol

some of this sort of doesn't make sense though lol, like how she was able to see ghosts? and how Shin On was able to being under a coma for 6yrs only because a man hit her with a gun on her head ... lol maybe i'm just being arrogant

Other than that i've pleased to see a movie out that is filled with suspense, comedic relief and some romance here and there lol (of course! it's not a Korean drama without romance !! xDD )

That's it for today~ :)

Cheers~

Asian Film Review!: Gu Family Book

Gu Family Book

~구가의 서 ~

Is this a Korean Drama?: Yes

What Genre is this Drama?: Historical, Romance, a little
comedy is in there too

Is it New?: sort of, i'm only on the 5th episode- it is still airing
but the series will almost end

Are There any famous characters?: Yes ! many ! Lee Seung Gi,
Suzy and many more :D

How Many Episodes will be airing?: 24

Will it make you cry?: LOL yeah will so far it did

Here are the main characters in the Series:

Lee Seung Gi As Choi Kang Chi
  • Founded on the river banks in the forest he was taken in as a newborn to be raised in a good family
  • You see Kang Chi get into alot of trouble as soon as his character is introduced- he is seen as the typical troublemaker or the odd one of his family
  • aside from him making trouble he is very warm and pure at the heart and producers also display this with his acts of kindness towards the neighbourhood
  • He was often rejected and scolded especially by his mother
  • the typical "ugly" duckling *Lee Seung Gi you are no ugly :)

Bae Suzy As Dam Weo Wool
  • Very courageous woman- she was one of most likely the very few people who was a female warrior.. most of them were all male
  • her destiny changes when she meets a man that she was warned to avoid at all costs
  • Weo Wool comes off as mysterious- the producers and directors don't necessarily explain the story of her character in one go.. so throughout the Drama I think there will be more about Weo Wool that you will find out about

Sung Joon As Gon

  • The Handsome and glamorous Sung Joon plays the assistant for Weo Wool as "Gon"
  • immediately we see that Gon has some feelings for Weo Wool- he doesn't say it directly but the directors capture some facial expressions whenever he or someone else mentions Weo Wool
  • He and Weo Wool are long time friends

Lee Yoo-Bi As Park Chung Jo

  • Lee Yoo-Bi plays the role of Park Chung Jo who is the daughter of a wealthy family who basically owns a hotel or Inn- 100 year Inn.
  • The Park family are also the people who have brought in Choi Kang Chi
  • She resembles the mother of Kang Chi: Pure, elegant, warm hearted, but also very brave and has courage in her
  • There is a secret relationship that happens between Choi Kang Chi and Chung Jo but this doesn't last for long >:3

Synopsis
I don't know exactly the specific era of this drama but taking into account of the different clothes and lifestyle that it's probably in the earlier era's LOL. It starts off with the mythical Gumiho- Fox Demon who is surprising very friendly and is seen taking on the form of a human. He comes across a young lady who is a human and at first sight in 1000 years has he fallen in love. At this time the Young Lady was sold to the government where she was taken into a Korean Brothel House-She was saved and rescued by the Fox demon not knowing that he was a mythical creature and both eventually fall in love with each other. <--At this point the Young lady was considered a fugitive and was wanted by the Government.

So blinded by love that they didn't care for anything else in the world and they lived their lives in the forest. 2-3months had passed and many soldiers were still on the lookout for the Young lady who had escaped from the brothel. The Fox demon had soon revealed his true form after fighting off the soldiers where he was also seen by his lover. She was not able to accept him for who he was, calling him a monster and reported him to the police. Their Love was pure infatuation and was unstable- this ended their relationship however, inside the Young lady was life. She gave birth to a very healthy half Demon-half human, growing up he will face many challenges meet many new people and faces and also create new land lasting relationships.

Response
To be quite frank, I definitely did not expect a historical drama to be this good LOL. I never really liked historical drama's- their descriptions never were to my liking... maybe because the settings were in the the early era's but yeah. I feel like this drama really changed my perspective on them. Despite the emotional joyride right in the beginning of the show, there are many comedic reliefs especially when Seung Gi is introduced. I just really enjoy the drama overall
the characters' roles were played very well...except for one character. The step mother of Seung Gi. I felt that her acting was very poor- her acting wasn't really too convincing for me personally. Other than that the characters were really well played out

**This is a really good drama is your really unsure about watching
Historical Korean Dramas***

Well that's it for my review guys ! Be sure to read the next review on:

Film Review Tuesday: When A Man Loves

10:13a.m EST
Okay, Let's be honest.. lol i was pretty damn excited to write this review. Let me tell you. I Love asian drama's! lmfao okay i'm digressing here xD
---

 남자가 사랑할 때
When A Man Loves/When a Man Falls In Love

What kind of drama is this: Korean

Is it currently Airing?: Yes

Any well known cast members?: Generally all the major cast members

How many episodes will be airing?: 20

What is the genre?: Melodrama, Romance

Has it made you cry yet?: No, not yet. I'm only 7-8 episodes in so there are still many chances for me to cry a river aha.

Here are the major Cast Members:

Shin Se Kyung-- Seo Mi Do

Song Seung-heon -- Han Tae-sang

Chae Jung-an -- Baek Seung-Joo

Summary
In the beginning of the drama, the series starts off seven years ago from the present- during this time Shin Se Kyung (plays Seo Mi Do) was a top student at a private institute, often going to a community area where many family's would line up for free rice. She lives in a poor family household- in major debt by Loan Sharks and also owning a bookstore that did not seem very beneficial at the time.
Song Seung Heon (plays Han Tae Sang) a very powerful loan shark along with his men came into the bookstore obviously demanding the father of the household for their money (which he was not able to return)- simply the pressure of keeping the house and pressure from the sharks lead him to disappear leaving on a goodbye note. Mi Do is told of what happened and at this point both Han Tae Sang and Seo Mi Do have met  ;).
Mi Do explains that she will be in he place of her father and will give them back what her father owes in-- Oops ;) at this point i'm going to give away the goods

Response
Judging from the name of the drama series and the photo above, I feel that you can safely assume that this drama is in the genre of romance and melodramatic. Like all Korean drama's, this one would fall under the category of typical dramas (CEO man falling in love with a poor but beautiful woman- another woman gets in the way etc.)

For me personally these sorts of drama's can never  tire me out- I really love these sorts of situations. I feel that also the role of characters are played really well and at the same time maintaining the idea of this drama to be considered as melodramatic. Their are also comedic reliefs here and there(especially with Tae Sang)- I feel that how much comedic relief that they put into this drama was at a decent level (if the producers and directors were to put too much I think that the drama would lose the idea and the atmosphere of this being a really dramatic and romantic series).
Yeah, I think their choice of actors/actresses were really good, it's been the first time for me to be seeing Shin Se Kyung and Song Seung Heon, so it was a little refreshing to have new faces as one of the leads

If you think about it, this drama would almost be parallel to the fairytale of Cinderella- Poor Mi Do is a smart young woman who goes to a centre to get free rice hoping to reel in some money if she finds a job to help support her family. All of a sudden a handsome prince (Tae Sang) comes in to sweep her off her feet to help support her in her tuition fees, the family debts and even goes further. <-- But I guess you can say that for the majority of Korean Drama's ;P

The one thing that is different from this drama and all the other Korean one's is that, this drama in a way isn't very predictable, it has many directions it can go and this drama in particular goes along the path that you really wouldn't expect. Granted, the role of the characters (being a dominant position of a well known company and a poor girl) are quite overused, there are many scenes in which one would think "Oh i know what is going to happen." but it's completely the opposite. This drama really makes you stay on your toes and entices you to watch the next episode or to wait another week for the latest one!

-----

BOTTOMLINE**
If your that kind of person who is really into corny romantic dramas and loves a little tug of war between 3-4 persons (in terms of love relationships) I think that This Drama Is Right For You ! ;D

Well that's it for my reivew! :) I hope you guys liked it, Stay in touch next week, my next Film Review Tuesday  will be of:

Cheers!
